It also has a corroborating report from the hadith of Jundub ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Bajali, attributed to the Prophet, with the first wording.
Al-Tabarani narrated it in al-Muʿjam al-Kabir (2/181/1687) and also in al-Awsat (7/313/7597—al-Haramayn), through al-ʿAbbas ibn Muhammad, who said: Shababah ibn Sawwar narrated to us; al-Mughirah ibn Muslim narrated to us from Yunus ibn ʿUbayd, from al-Walid ibn Muslim, from him.
I say: This is a good chain of transmission. The hadith master made no comment on it (11/29), thereby indicating that it strengthens the report.
As for al-Haythami’s statement (8/46):
“Al-Tabarani narrated it in al-Kabir and al-Awsat, and its narrators are those of the Sahih, apart from al-ʿAbbas ibn Muhammad al-Duri, who is trustworthy,”
there is some leniency in this, for al-Mughirah ibn Muslim was narrated from only by al-Bukhari in al-Adab al-Mufrad, not in the Sahih.
Furthermore, in a version recorded by Abu Dawud (5183), through Abu Burdah ibn Abi Musa from his father concerning this incident, he said:
Umar said to Abu Musa, “I did not suspect you, but reports from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, are a grave matter.”
Its chain of transmission is good.
3475 — (A man’s prayer in congregation exceeds his prayer alone by twenty-five degrees. If he performs it in open desert, completing its minor ablution, bowing, and prostration properly, his prayer reaches fifty degrees.)
Ibn Abi Shaybah recorded it in al-Musannaf (2/479–480): Abu Muʿawiyah narrated to us from
