310 — “If you were to place your trust in Allah as He truly deserves, He would provide for you just as He provides for the birds: they set out in the morning hungry and return in the evening full.”
Ahmad (1/30), al-Tirmidhi (2/55, Bulaq edition), and al-Hakim (4/318) recorded it through Haywah ibn Shurayh, who said: Bakr ibn ‘Amr informed me that he heard ‘Abd Allah ibn Hubayrah say that he heard Abu Tamim al-Jayshani say that he heard ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, say that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say this.
Al-Tirmidhi said: “A good, authentic hadith.”
Al-Hakim said: “Its chain of transmission is authentic,” and al-Dhahabi concurred.
I say: Rather, it is authentic according to Muslim’s criteria, since its narrators are narrators used by both al-Bukhari and Muslim, apart from Ibn Hubayrah and Abu Tamim, who are among Muslim’s narrators alone. Ibn Lahi‘ah also corroborated Ibn Hubayrah in narrating it. Ahmad (1/52) and Ibn Majah (4164) recorded it; Ibn Majah relates it through ‘Abd Allah ibn Wahb from him. Thus, its chain is also authentic.

Al-Tirmidhi (2/198) and al-Darimi (2/329) recorded it—the final addition is found in both of them—as did al-Hakim (2/375 and 4/586), whose wording is cited here, Ahmad (1/435), and Abu Ya‘la
