and he narrated it using an ambiguous “from” formulation. Nevertheless, Ahmad Shakir graded its chain of transmission authentic in his commentary on al-Musnad (12/16)! Jarir ibn Hazim also corroborated him in narrating it from Amr ibn Shuʿayb, but differed from him in its wording, saying:
“... even if it be the space of a sandgrouse’s nest, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise,”
without mentioning: “... more spacious than it.”
Al-Khatib recorded it in Tarikh Baghdad (9/95).
2—As for the hadith of Asmaʾ bint Yazid, Mahmud ibn Amr al-Ansari narrates it from her as a report traced back to the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, with this wording.
Ahmad recorded it (6/461), as did al-ʿUqayli in al-Duʿafaʾ (2/126), and al-Tabarani in al-Muʿjam al-Kabir (24/165/468) and al-Muʿjam al-Awsat (9/209/8454); but neither of the latter two includes the words: “more spacious than it.”
I say: This chain of transmission is good, or close to good, for all its narrators are trustworthy and were narrators used by both al-Bukhari and Muslim, apart from Mahmud ibn Amr al-Ansari. Ibn Hibban declared him trustworthy (5/434), and two people narrated from him, especially considering that he was from the Successors. Al-Dhahabi said:
“There is some unknownness concerning him.”
Al-Hafiz said in al-Taqrib:
“Acceptable.”
For this reason, after attributing it to al-Tabarani and Ahmad, al-Haythami said (2/8):
“Its narrators have been declared reliable.”
