“This was not narrated in the six canonical collections, nor was it mentioned in Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid, and should therefore be added to it.”
I say: The same applies to his other work, Kashf al-Astār, for he did not mention it there, although you have learned that it is found in Musnad al-Bazzār.
The Shaykh then said:
“‘The most eminent of them as a woman’; that is, the eldest and greatest of them. In manuscript K: ‘the strongest of them as a woman.’ In a marginal copy: ‘the most beautiful of them.’”
I say: The first reading is strengthened by its agreement with the two narrations of al-Ṭabarānī. Consider this carefully.
The hadith is authentic, for it has many corroborating reports in the two Ṣaḥīḥs and elsewhere. Some of them may be found in Aḥkām al-Janāʾiz (p. 34, al-Maʿārif edition) and in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Targhīb, Book of Marriage, no. 1999. *
3442—“No woman removes her clothes anywhere other than her own home except that she has rent the covering between herself and Allah.”
It was recorded by Aḥmad in al-Musnad (6/362), al-Dūlābī in al-Asmāʾ wa-al-Kunā (2/134), and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr (24/255/652), through several routes from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb, who said: Ḥaywah ibn Shurayḥ informed me; he said: Abū Ṣakhr narrated to me that Yuhannis Abū Mūsā related to him that Umm al-Dardāʾ related to him:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, met her one day and said:
“Where have you come from, O Umm al-Dardāʾ?”
