The additional wording found in al-Musnad is supported by a good corroborating report, worded:
“... and blessed is he who believes in me without having seen me”—seven times.
Its sources were previously given under Hadith 2888. *
3433—“Whoever frightens this clan of the Ansar has frightened what lies between these two”—meaning, his two sides.
Al-Tayalisi narrated it in his Musnad (242/1760), and through him al-Bazzar in his Musnad (3/304/2805)—the wording being his—from Talib ibn Habib, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Jabir ibn Abd Allah, from his father:
He went out on the day of al-Harrah, and his foot stumbled [over a stone]. He said, “May he perish who frightens the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him!” [I said, “And who frightened the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?”] He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ... then he mentioned it. The additions are from al-Tayalisi.
I say: This is a good chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy narrators used by Muslim, apart from Talib ibn Habib, who is truthful but makes mistakes, as stated in al-Taqrib. Al-Bazzar said after it:
“We know of no report from Jabir except through this chain of transmission.”
I say: It has also come through another chain, narrated by Muhammad ibn Kulayb—who is trustworthy, as Abu Zur'ah said—from Mahmud and Muhammad, the two sons of Jabir, who heard Jabir say: I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say:
“Whoever frightens the Ansar ...” the hadith.
Al-Bukhari narrated it in al-Tarikh (1/1/53/110 and 4/1/404/1767), as did al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat (6/143/5293), with the wording: They said:
