whom Bashīr ibn Salmān narrates from was Abū Ḥamzah al-Kūfī, not Abū al-Ḥakam, even though this is stated explicitly in some reports from Bashīr; see the hadith cited under hadith 2767. For this reason, I have confined myself to grading it good. Yet the hadith is authentic, and one of the proofs of his prophethood, peace and blessings be upon him, for its elements have been reported separately in hadiths, some of which have already preceded. See, for example, the previously cited hadith of Ibn ʿUmar, no. 107; the hadith of Ibn ʿAbbās cited in Ghayat al-Maram, 203/344; and the hadith of ʿUbadah ibn al-Ṣāmit in al-Ṣaḥīḥah, no. 1604, among others.
Among them is his saying, peace and blessings be upon him:
“One of the signs of the Hour is that knowledge will be taken away, ignorance will become widespread, fornication will become rife, and wine will be drunk...”
Al-Bukhārī and Muslim narrated it in their respective Books of Knowledge, as did the compilers of the Sunan collections—other than Abū Dāwūd—and al-Tirmidhī authenticated it (2205). *
3416—“There are no two Muslims whose three children die before reaching the age of accountability, except that they will be brought and made to stand at the gate of Paradise. They will be told, ‘Enter Paradise.’ But they will say, ‘Are we to enter while our parents have not entered?!’ They will then be told—I do not know about the second time—‘Enter Paradise, you and your parents.’ He said: This is the meaning of Allah’s saying, exalted is He: ‘So the intercession of the intercessors will not avail them.’ He said: The intercession of their children benefited the parents.”
Isḥāq ibn Rāhawayh narrated it in his Musnad (4/230/2): Al-Naḍr ibn Shumayl informed us; Abān ibn Samʿah narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn narrated to us from Ḥabībah—or Umm Ḥabībah—who said:
“We were in the house of ʿĀishah when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, entered and said: ...” He then related it.
