- “You have asked Allah by Allah’s Greatest Name: the Name by which, when He is invoked, He answers, and by which, when He is asked, He grants.”
Ibn Abī Shaybah transmitted it in al-Muṣannaf (10/272/9410), and Aḥmad (3/120). They said: Wakīʿ narrated to us: Abū Khuzaymah narrated to me, from Anas ibn Sīrīn, from Anas ibn Mālik:
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, heard a man saying:
“O Allah, to You belongs all praise. There is no god worthy of worship but You, alone, without partner; the Ever-Bountiful Giver, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Possessor of Majesty and Honor!”
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then said: … and he mentioned it.
Through Wakīʿ’s route, Ibn Mājah (3858) also transmitted it.
I say: This is a sound chain of transmission. Its narrators are reliable and are among the narrators of the two Shaykhs, apart from Abū Khuzaymah. Abū Ḥātim said: “There is no harm in him.”
Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in al-Thiqāt (6/465), naming him Ṣāliḥ ibn Mirdās. A number of reliable hadith masters also narrated from him. Al-Dhahabī and al-Ḥāfiẓ said: “Truthful.”
It has two other chains of transmission:
The first is narrated by Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muslim narrated to me, from Ibrāhīm ibn ʿUbayd ibn Rifāʿah, from Anas, with the same wording, except for the words: “alone, without partner.”
