I say: This chain of transmission is weak. Its narrators are trustworthy, apart from Maymūn Abū Muḥammad al-Murāʾī, who is unknown. Ibn Maʿīn said of him:
“I do not know him.”
After relating this from Yaḥyā ibn Maʿīn, Ibn ʿAdī said in al-Kāmil (6/416): “If Yaḥyā did not know him, then he is unknown.”
Al-Haythamī said in al-Majmaʿ (2/278):
“Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Kabīr narrated it, and its chain includes Maymūn Abū Muḥammad. Al-Dhahabī said: ‘He is not known.’”
For this reason, al-Mundhirī indicated its weakness in al-Targhīb (1/191). However, he attributed it only to al-Ṭabarānī in al-Kabīr, then followed it by saying:
“In another narration of his, he also said: ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: “Whoever stands in prayer and then turns about, Allah will reject his prayer ...”’”
Al-Haythamī said regarding this narration (2/81):
“Its chain includes Yūsuf ibn ʿAṭiyyah, who is weak.”
I say: Rather, he is very weak. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said:
“Abandoned.”
I say: From what you have learned about the status of this al-Murāʾī, the error of al-Suyūṭī in declaring its chain hasan (fair) in al-Laʾālī (2/47) becomes clear to you. *
