Curiously, neither of them noted that al-Bukhārī cited him in conjunction with another narrator. This was explicitly stated by their source, Tahdhīb al-Kamāl, by al-Hāfiẓ al-Mizzī; indeed, al-Hāfiẓ himself explicitly stated it in the introduction to al-Fatḥ. After mentioning the imams’ remarks concerning him, he said (p. 412):
“I say: He has one hadith in the Sahih, in the exegesis of Surat al-Baqarah, with Yūnus corroborating him, from al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī, from Maʿqil ibn Yasār.”
I say: His statement at the end of the hadith, “Then some of the people said …,” may have referred to ʿĀʾishah. For al-Bazzār narrated from her (1/410/868) that she said:
“I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, will this community be put to trial in their graves? How will I fare when I am a weak woman?’ He said:
‘Allah keeps firm those who believe with the firm word in the life of this world and in the Hereafter.’”

- “The people will be gathered in three ways: hopeful and fearful; two upon one camel, three upon one camel, four upon one camel, and ten upon one camel; and the Fire will gather the rest of them. It will rest with them at midday wherever they rest, spend the night with them wherever they spend the night, be with them in the morning wherever they awaken, and be with them in the evening wherever they enter the evening.”
It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (6522), Muslim (8/157), al-Nasāʾī (1/295), Ibn Ḥibbān in his Sahih (9/217/7292), Ibn Abī Shaybah in al-Muṣannaf (13/248/16245), Ibn Abī al-Dunyā in al-Ahwāl (239/235), al-Bayhaqī in Shuʿab al-Īmān (1/318/359), al-Ṭabarānī in al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ (6/50/5103), and al-Baghawī
