that he had quoted it from Majmaʿ al-Zawaʾid, since he reproduced the error it contains: “... Abu Farwah”!
It was therefore only natural that the aforementioned omission should also occur in my book Daʿif al-Jamiʿ (2828), for my sole concern in dealing with it—that is, al-Jamiʿ—was to separate the authentic hadiths from the weak ones and publish each collection separately. Thus, I am not responsible for any errors in the text or attribution that may occur in either of them as a result of their source, as is plainly evident. The same applies to everything I have written, or may write, according to this method of sorting.
Even so, Allah has greatly favored me, and I have drawn attention to many of the mistakes that occurred in these two works, or in others, as a result of the original source—as is known to those familiar with my books.
That said, now that this documentation and verification have established that the hadith is authentic through its chain of transmission and its corroborating report, it must be transferred from Daʿif al-Jamiʿ to Sahih al-Jamiʿ, with the two clauses restored in both. Whoever possesses them should make this correction; may Allah reward him well.
This investigation and notice ought to have been made long ago, but all matters are in Allah’s Hand:
“And you do not will unless Allah wills.”
“Our Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or make a mistake.”

3385—“If a man says to his brother, ‘O disbeliever!’ it is like killing him; and cursing a believer is like killing him.”
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Muʿjam al-Kabir (18/193–194): Abdan ibn Ahmad narrated to us: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Saʿid al-Qattan narrated to us: Bishr ibn Mubashshir al-Wasiti narrated to us: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, from Abu al-Muhallab, from ʿImran ibn Husayn, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: ... and then cited it.
I say: This is a sound chain of transmission. Abdan ibn Ahmad is a trustworthy and well-known hadith master, and the narrators above him are trustworthy,
