from Anas with similar wording, namely:
“Whoever cares for two girls until they reach maturity will come on the Day of Resurrection, he and I,” and he joined his fingers.
297 — “Whoever cares for two girls until they reach maturity will come on the Day of Resurrection, he and I.” And he joined his fingers.
Muslim (8/38–39), whose wording is cited here, and al-Tirmidhi (1/349) reported it through Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Abī Bakr ibn Anas, from Anas ibn Mālik, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, said—and he then cited it.
Al-Tirmidhi said: “This is a good, singular hadith.”
I say: Its chain of transmission is authentic. Al-Tirmidhi does not include the words, “until they reach maturity.” He gives: “He and I will enter Paradise like these two,” and he pointed with his two fingers.
298 — “Water will suffice you, and any remaining trace of it will not harm you.”
Abū Dāwūd (1/141–142, with the commentary al-ʿAwn) and Aḥmad (2/380) reported it, saying: Qutaybah ibn Saʿīd narrated to us: Ibn Lahīʿah informed us, from Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb, from ʿĪsā ibn Ṭalḥah, from Abū Hurayrah,
that Khawlah bint Yasār came to the Prophet, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, and said: “O Messenger of Allah, I have only one garment, and I menstruate in it. What should I do?” He said: “When you become pure, wash it, then pray in it.” She said: “What if the bloodstain does not come out?” He said—and he then cited it.
Al-Bayhaqī also reported it in al-Sunan (2/408) through ʿUthmān ibn Ṣāliḥ: Ibn Lahīʿah narrated to us: Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb narrated to me the same report.
ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb corroborated both of them, saying: Ibn Lahīʿah informed us of it.
