I say: Hāshim ibn Zayd is weak in hadith, as Ibn Abī Ḥātim (4/2/103) related from his father; al-Dhahabī and al-ʿAsqalānī followed him in this. The rest of its narrators are reliable.
Hāshim was corroborated by Ṣafwān ibn ʿAmr—the one I intended by my words, “and others.” This is found in al-Ṭabarānī’s narration, but the chain leading to him contains Sulaymān ibn Salamah al-Khabāʾirī, who is abandoned.
The final part of the hadith has another corroborating report, narrated from Abū Saʿīd and attributed to the Prophet, with the wording:
“The people of Paradise, when they have intercourse with their wives, will find them virgins again.”
Al-Bazzār also recorded it (3527), as did Abū al-Shaykh in his book al-ʿAẓamah (3/1081/583), through al-Bazzār; al-Ṭabarānī in al-Muʿjam al-Ṣaghīr (p. 49, Indian edition), through whom Abū Nuʿaym recorded it as no. 365; likewise al-Khaṭīb in al-Tārīkh (6/53), and al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī in Ṣifat al-Jannah (fol. 83/1), through Muʿallā ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, who said: Sharik narrated to us from ʿĀṣim al-Aḥwal, from Abū al-Mutawakkil, from him. Al-Ṭabarānī said:
“No one narrated it from ʿĀṣim except Sharik, and Muʿallā ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān alone narrated it.”
I say: He is accused of fabrication, as stated in al-Taqrīb. Al-Haythamī said (10/417):
“Al-Bazzār and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Ṣaghīr narrated it, and its chain contains Muʿallā ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Wāsiṭī, who is a liar.”
Thus, he is not suitable to be cited as corroboration, and what has preceded renders him unnecessary.
I had included this hadith of Muʿallā in Ḍaʿīf al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr, limiting myself to declaring it “weak.” This was based on my earlier judgment that the hadith of Darrāj was weak,
