Silsilat al-Ahadith al-SahihahNasir al-Din al-Albani

Ahmad’s chain of transmission in the first of the two places is authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and al-Bukhārī cited it in suspended form (2616 and 3802). In the other place, it is authentic according to Muslim’s criteria.

The third: Shuʿbah narrated it from him in an abbreviated form.

It was transmitted by al-Ṭayālisī (267/1990), and through his route by Aḥmad (3/209). Its chain of transmission is likewise authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs.

I found three corroborating narrators for Qatādah:

The first was Wāqid ibn ʿAmr ibn Saʿd ibn Muʿādh, who said:

“I entered upon Anas ibn Mālik, and he asked me, ‘Who are you?’ I replied, ‘I am Wāqid ibn ʿAmr ibn Saʿd ibn Muʿādh.’ He said, ‘You bear a close resemblance to Saʿd,’ then wept profusely. He said, ‘May Allah have mercy on Saʿd. He was among the greatest and tallest of men.’ Then he said:

‘The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) sent an army to Ukaidir of Dūmah, and he sent the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) a brocade robe woven with gold. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) put it on and stood upon the pulpit—or sat down—but did not speak. He then descended, and the people began touching the robe and looking at it. He then said: ...’”

He then cited the hadith under discussion, excluding the clause concerning the gift.

It was transmitted by al-Tirmidhī (1723), al-Nasāʾī (2/297), Ibn Ḥibbān in his Ṣaḥīḥ (6998—al-Iḥsān), whose wording is given here, and Ibn Abī Shaybah in al-Muṣannaf (14/413–414/18644), through Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr, who said: “Wāqid ibn ʿAmr ibn Saʿd ibn Muʿādh narrated to us ...” Al-Tirmidhī said: “A good, authentic hadith.”
