He exempted from among the Baghdadis who narrated from him Sulaymān ibn Dāwūd al-Hāshimī, saying:
“His hadiths from him are acceptable.”
Ibn Maʿīn said:
“He is the most reliable of people in his narrations from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah.”
I say: As you can see, this hadith is among his narrations from him, and in Aḥmad it was narrated from him by Sulaymān ibn Dāwūd al-Hāshimī. I say: This is a good chain of transmission, for Ibn Isḥāq explicitly stated that he heard it directly. Al-Ḥākim said:
“This hadith meets Muslim’s conditions.”
Al-Dhahabī agreed with him.
Muslim only cited Ibn Isḥāq in supporting narrations, but he has been corroborated in the first chain; thus, in this respect, it meets Muslim’s conditions. And Allah knows best.
As for the corroborating report, Aḥmad (6/438) narrates it: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us; Maʿmar narrated to us, from—
