3330—“When Allah—mighty is His mention—wills to create a human being, and a man has intercourse with a woman, his fluid spreads through every vein and nerve of hers. Then, on the seventh day, Allah brings together for him every vein between him and Adam. He then recited: ‘In whatever form He willed, He assembled you.’”
It was narrated by al-Ḥāfiẓ Yaʿqūb al-Fasawī in al-Maʿrifah (1/342), and through his route by al-Bayhaqī in al-Asmāʾ (p. 387); by al-Ṭabarānī in al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr (9/290/644), al-Awsaṭ (2/365/1636), and al-Ṣaghīr (p. 212, Indian edition; al-Rawḍ 850); by Abū Nuʿaym in al-Ṭibb al-Nabawī (fol. 19/1); and by Ibn Mandah in al-Tawḥīd (1/231–232/89 and 2/80/220), through two routes from Anays ibn Suwwār al-Jarmī: “My father narrated to us; Mālik ibn al-Ḥuwayrith narrated to us,” who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said ... and he cited it.
Al-Ṭabarānī said:
“No report is narrated from Mālik ibn al-Ḥuwayrith except through this chain of transmission; Ibn Suwwār alone narrated it.”
Ibn Mandah said:
“This is a well-known chain of transmission whose links are continuous, in accordance with the standard of Abū ʿĪsā and al-Nasāʾī, and others.”
I say: He means that it is good according to the criterion of Abū ʿĪsā al-Tirmidhī and the other compilers of the Sunan; and it is as he says, if Allah wills. For al-Bukhārī and Ibn Abī Ḥātim gave biographical notices for Anays ibn Suwwār and his father, without mentioning for either of them any narrator criticism or accreditation. Ibn Ḥibbān listed them in al-Thiqāt (Reliable Narrators), saying of Suwwār (4/337):
“Suwwār al-Jarmī, a Basran, narrates from Mālik ibn al-Ḥuwayrith. His son Qatādah ibn Suwwār, Anays ibn Suwwār—the two al-Jarmīs—and Abū Qilābah narrated from him.”
This is what he said under the generation of the Successors. He then listed him under the generation after the Successors, saying (6/422):
