Its chain of transmission is authentic according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs. However, I have reservations about the soundness of this addition in this hadith, since it does not occur in those routes; it therefore appears to be an interpolation.
This hadith is narrated from Abu Hurayrah through several routes:
The first: Khalid ibn Abi Yazid narrated to us: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Hisham, from Muhammad, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
“He prohibited the price of a dog and the earnings of a prostitute.”
It was recorded by al-Khatib in al-Tarikh (8/304) and by al-Baghawi in Sharh al-Sunnah (8/22–23).
I say: This is a good chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy and were relied upon by the two Shaykhs, apart from Khalid ibn Abi Yazid, the Baghdad-based al-Mazraqi. Al-Khatib gave his biography (8/304), citing a number of trustworthy narrators who narrated from him, and reported that Ibn Ma'in said: “There was nothing objectionable about him.”
Al-Dhahabi in al-Kashif, and al-Hafiz in al-Taqrib, said: “Truthful.”
He was corroborated: Abu Ubayd narrated it in Gharib al-Hadith (ff. 60–61): Hajjaj narrated to me, from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Hisham ibn Hassan and Habib ibn al-Shahid, from Ibn Sirin, with the second part of it. He said: Hajjaj said: “The term zammārah means a prostitute.”
I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission, and Hajjaj is Ibn Minhal al-Anmati.
Abu Ma'mar said: Abd al-Warith narrated to us; Hisham ibn Hassan narrated to us with the wording:
