“He is acceptable, but he transmits mursal reports.”
Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in al-Thiqāt (9/102), and al-Ḥāfiẓ said: “Truthful.”
This al-Ḥarrānī was also corroborated. Al-Ṭabarānī said in al-Awsaṭ (1683): “Aḥmad—namely, al-Nasāʾī—narrated to us: Abū al-Muʿāfā Muḥammad ibn Wahb ibn Abī Karīmah al-Ḥarrānī informed us: Muḥammad ibn Salamah narrated to us through the same chain.”
This is a strong corroborating transmission.
As for the supporting report, it is narrated by Hāshim ibn ʿĪsā al-Yazanī, who said: Al-Ḥārith ibn Muslim narrated to us, from al-Zuhrī, from Anas ibn Mālik, attributing it to the Prophet, with the same wording.
Al-Ṭabarānī transmitted it in al-Awsaṭ (5159) and said: “No one narrated it from al-Ḥārith except Hāshim ibn ʿĪsā.”
I say: Al-ʿUqaylī said (4/343): “His hadiths are rejected, and he is unknown as a transmitter.”
He then cited another hadith of his through a different chain, concerning placing the hand beneath the cheek when sleeping, in which he added: “This is the sleep of the prophets.” ...
Al-Dhahabī cited this from him in al-Mīzān, as did al-Ḥāfiẓ in al-Lisān, and both endorsed it.
Al-Haythamī did not know him, and said in al-Majmaʿ (10/355): “Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it in al-Awsaṭ, and it includes Hāshim ibn ʿĪsā al-Yazanī, whom I do not know,”
