The fifth route: Muṣʿab ibn al-Miqdām said: Saʿīd ibn Bashīr narrated to us, from Qatādah, from Sulaymān ibn Yasār, from Jābir.
Al-Ṭabarānī recorded it in al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ (1/248/1/4285/2; 5/78/4139, printed edition), and said:
“No one narrated it from Saʿīd except Muṣʿab.”
I say: Both of them are weak.
The hadith also has a corroborating report from Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī, cited previously under no. 1280.
Note: Despite this hadith’s many routes in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim and elsewhere, the annotator of al-Iḥsān (14/66–67) attributed it only to al-Ṭabarānī’s al-Awsaṭ—and that through Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid (7/289)!
3262—“Indeed, the spirit meets the spirit.” In another narration: “Sit, prostrate, and do as you saw.” He said this to Khuzaymah ibn Thābit.
Al-Nasāʾī recorded it in al-Sunan al-Kubrā (4/384/7631), as did Ibn Abī Shaybah in al-Muṣannaf (11/78/10564), Aḥmad (5/214 and 215), Ibn Saʿd (4/380–381), and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr (4/97/3717), through the route of Ḥammād ibn Salamah: Abū Jaʿfar al-Khaṭmī narrated to us from ʿUmārah ibn Khuzaymah ibn Thābit, that his father said:
“I saw in a dream that I was prostrating upon the forehead of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. So I informed the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, of this, and he said…” Then he mentioned it. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, inclined his head backward in this manner—as ʿAffān described it—and Khuzaymah placed his forehead upon the Prophet’s forehead.
