Al-Bazzār reported it in his Musnad (2/385/1910) and said:
“We know of no report of it except through this chain of transmission!”
I say: Al-Haythamī said in Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid (8/161):
“It contains someone who is unknown.”
I say: Al-Bazzār overlooked the first chain of transmission.
The other route is also reported by Ibn ʿAsākir, through ʿUqbah ibn ʿUqbah (!) ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Bishr ibn ʿAqrabah, from his father, from his grandfather, ʿAbd Allāh ibn Bishr, who said: I heard my father say:
“My father, ʿAqrabah, was killed on the day of Uḥud …” Then he mentioned the hadith.
I say: This is an unknown chain of transmission; I did not recognize those below Bishr in it. *
