a larger gathering in this valley than you do!” Then Allah revealed:
“Let him summon his council; We shall summon the guards of Hell.”
Ibn Abbas said: “Had he summoned his council, the angels of punishment would have seized him immediately.”
It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi (2/238) and Ibn Jarir in his exegesis (30/164), through several routes from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from Ikrimah, from Ibn Abbas, who related it. The wording is Ibn Jarir’s.
I say: Its chain of transmission is authentic according to Muslim’s criteria.
Al-Tirmidhi said: “A good, singular, authentic hadith.”
I say: Al-Bukhari, al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (3/141/1), and others also narrated it through other routes from Ikrimah, with similar wording.
Al-Tabarani also has another route for it in al-Mu'jam (3/173/1), from Ibn Abbas.
276 — “Learn enough of your genealogies to maintain your ties of kinship, for maintaining kinship brings affection among one’s family, increase in wealth, and prolongation of one’s life.”
It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi (1/357–358), al-Hakim (4/161), Ahmad (2/374), and al-Sam'ani in al-Ansab (1/5), from Abd al-Malik ibn Isa al-Thaqafi, from Yazid, the freedman of al-Munba'ith, from Abu Hurayrah, who attributed it to the Prophet.
Al-Tirmidhi said: “A singular hadith through this route.”
I say: Its chain of transmission is good. Its narrators are trustworthy and are among the narrators of the two Shaykhs, apart from this Abd al-Malik, whom Abu Hatim regarded as acceptable.
