“Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth. Today I shall meet the beloved ones: Muhammad and his companions. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: …” He then cited the hadith and said:
“By Allah, even if they were to defeat us and drive us as far as the palm-fronds of Hajar, we would know that we are upon the truth and that they are upon falsehood.”
Abu Nuʿaym recorded it (1/141–142), through al-Ṭabarānī’s chain: al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī al-Maʿmarī narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān ibn Abī al-Rajāʾ narrated to us …
I say: This chain is acceptable as corroborating evidence. Al-Maʿmarī was a well-known hadith master, and his teacher Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān was declared trustworthy by Ibn Ḥibbān (9/95).
Abū Maʿshar was Nujayḥ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sindī. He is weak because of his confused transmission. Al-Haythamī’s statement (9/298),
“Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it, and its chain is good,”
is an instance of leniency on his part—unless he meant that it is good due to supporting reports, though this is contrary to what appears from his wording. And Allah knows best. *
3217 — “Indeed, your final provision from this world will be a draught of diluted milk”—meaning ʿAmmār ibn Yāsir.
Al-Ḥākim recorded it (3/389), as did al-Ṭabarānī in al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ (2/101/2) and Ibn ʿAsākir in Tārīkh Dimashq (12/659), through two chains from Ḥarmalah ibn Yaḥyā: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb narrated to us; Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿd informed me, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: I heard ʿAmmār ibn Yāsir at Ṣiffīn, on the day he was killed, calling out: “Paradise has been brought near, and I have been wed to the maidens of Paradise. Today we shall meet our beloved Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.” In another narration: “We shall meet the beloved ones: Muhammad and his companions.” “He had pledged to me …” Then he cited the hadith.
