Allah and extols Him, they convey this to Allah—though He knows best—and He says: ‘My servant is entitled from Me that, if I cause him to die, I shall admit him into Paradise; and if I cure him, I shall replace his flesh with flesh better than his flesh, and his blood with blood better than his blood, and I shall expiate his sins.’
This is an authentic mursal chain, and thus a strong corroborating report for the connected hadith of Abu Bakr al-Hanafi. Praise be to Allah for granting success.
Then I found it with a connected chain from Malik. Abu al-Husayn al-Abnusi transmitted it in “A Booklet Containing Selected, Fine, Elevated Benefits and Rare Reports” (3/2): ‘Ali—meaning al-Daraqutni—reported to us. He said: Abu Bakr Abdullah ibn Sulayman ibn al-Ash‘ath dictated to us in 316 AH. He said: Ali ibn Muhammad al-Ziyadabadhi reported to us. He said: Ma‘n ibn ‘Isa reported to us. He said: Malik reported to us, from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, who said that the Messenger of Allah said [the same].’ Al-Daraqutni said: ‘Ali ibn Muhammad alone narrated it from Ma‘n, from Malik, and we only record it from Ibn Abi Dawud.’
I say: Yet this al-Ziyadabadhi appears to be unknown. Al-Sam‘ani mentioned him under this nisbah, stating that a group narrated from him—though there is an omission in the manuscript—and he cited neither criticism nor accreditation concerning him. He was mentioned in al-Mizan, followed by al-Lisan, because of this hadith. It says: ‘Al-Daraqutni indicated in Ghara’ib Malik that he was weak, that he alone narrated it from Ma‘n, from Malik, and said: It is found in al-Muwatta’ with an interrupted chain, from someone other than Suhayl.’
- “I guarantee a house on the outskirts of Paradise for one who abandons disputation, even if he is in the right; a house in the middle of Paradise for one who abandons lying, even when joking; and a house in the highest part of Paradise for one who perfects his character.”
Abu Dawud narrated it in his Sunan (4800): Muhammad ibn ‘Uthman al-Dimashqi, Abu al-Jamahir, reported to us. He said: Abu Ka‘b Ayyub ibn Muhammad al-Sa‘di reported to us. He said:
