“You agent! You shaykh of treachery! You shaykh of devils and devil of shaykhs! You legal opinion of misguidance! You mufti, you charlatan! You... you...” and so on, as recorded on his tape—until he went so far as to urge them to curse him! This rebounds upon him under the wording of the authentic hadith attributed to the Prophet—if Allah Most High wills. How could it not, when his tyranny led him to declare explicitly that none of the Muslim countries qualifies as a land of Islam?!

Accordingly, he urged people to emigrate to the Jews! He said verbatim:

“I see no alternative but that emigration from Algeria to Tel Aviv is obligatory!”

And he said:

“By Allah! If I were given the choice—I swear by Allah—between living in Jerusalem under Jewish occupation and living in any Arab capital, I would choose to live in Jerusalem under Jewish occupation...”

Despite all these declarations, grave in religious, political, and social terms, the man continued spreading his poison among the people in his sermons and gatherings, until many people were influenced by it and thought it was the truth. Perhaps one consequence was that my home was raided by the intelligence services and subjected to a meticulous search lasting more than seven hours. They confiscated about sixty letters from various Muslim lands and elsewhere, as well as a number of tapes belonging to me and to other students of Islamic knowledge, on the pretext of searching for weapons and explosives! Allah is the One whose help is sought.

Another of those evil consequences was that preachers in many mosques, and some writers in certain newspapers, followed his tune and fanned his flames, fabricating lies and falsehoods, until one partisan wrote the following—without any modesty or shame:

“I fear that he has reached the stage of senility in the feeblest stage of life, in which he no longer knows...”
