3196—(Allah—exalted is He—takes His heavens and His earths in His two Hands and says:
“I am Allah”—and He closes and opens His fingers—“I am the King.”
[The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, swayed to his right and to his left] until I saw the minbar moving at its base, to the point that I said: “Is it about to collapse with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?”)
Muslim (8/126–127), Ibn Khuzaymah in Oneness of God (49–50), and al-Bayhaqi in The Names and Attributes (339) all transmitted it through Sa‘id ibn Mansur: Ya‘qub ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman narrated to us; Abu Hazim narrated to me from ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Miqsam, that he watched ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Umar as he imitated the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: ... and he mentioned it.
Qutaybah ibn Sa‘id corroborated him: Ya‘qub ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman narrated to us with the same chain. Ibn Hibban transmitted it (9/213/7280).
Muslim and al-Bayhaqi then transmitted it, also through Sa‘id ibn Mansur, who said: ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn Abi Hazim narrated to us; my father narrated to me from ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Miqsam, from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Umar, who said:
“I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on the minbar, saying: ‘The Compeller—exalted is He—takes His heavens and His earths in His two Hands ...’” the hadith.
A group of narrators corroborated ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn Abi Hazim in this chain.
It was transmitted by Ibn Majah (198 and 4275), al-Darimi in Refutation of al-Marisi (p. 31), Ibn Jarir in Exegesis (24/18), al-Tabarani in The Great Lexicon (12/355/13327), and Ibn Mandah in Oneness of God (2/47/190); and they added:
