Among these routes is this narration of Sufyan recorded by Muslim, but he did not relate the hadith under this heading. Rather, al-Tabarani related it elsewhere (340/2258).
Jarir’s aforementioned statement has another route, narrated by Bayan from Qays ibn Abi Hazim, from him. It was recorded by al-Bukhari (7/131/3822), Muslim as well, Ahmad (4/359), and al-Tabarani (2/350/2286 and 2287), through several routes from him.
The hadith under this heading has another route, narrated by Yunus ibn Abi Ishaq from al-Mughirah ibn Shibl, from Jarir ibn Abd Allah, who said:
When I approached the city of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, I made my camel kneel, unpacked my baggage, and put on my finest garment. Then I entered while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was delivering a sermon, and I greeted him. The people stared at me, so I asked someone sitting nearby, “O servant of Allah, has the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned anything concerning me?” He replied, “Yes. He mentioned you in the best possible terms. While he was delivering his sermon, he happened to mention you and said: ‘A man will enter among you …’” The hadith is similar, except that at its end he said: “So I praised Allah for what He had bestowed upon me.”
It was also recorded by al-Nasa’i in al-Sunan al-Kubra (no. 8304), Ibn Hibban (7155), Ibn Abi Shaybah (12391), Ahmad (4/359 and 364), and al-Tabarani as well (2483), through several routes from him.
I say: Its chain of transmission is authentic. Its narrators are trustworthy and are among Muslim’s narrators, apart from this al-Mughirah; and he is indisputably trustworthy.
