the numbers of their fellow believers. Allah, Most High, says:
“Indeed, those whom the angels take in death while they have wronged themselves will be asked, ‘What situation were you in?’ They will reply, ‘We were oppressed in the land.’ The angels will say, ‘Was not Allah’s earth spacious enough for you to emigrate therein …’” [al-Nisa’ 4:97]
*3191. “Seek refuge with Allah from the beginning of the seventies and from the rule of boys.”
Ibn Abi Shaybah narrated it in al-Musannaf (5/49/19082), as did Ahmad (2/326, 355, and 448), al-Bazzar (4/126/3358), and Ibn ‘Adi in al-Kamil (6/81), through several routes from Kamil Abu al-‘Ala, who said: I heard Abu Salih—who was a mu’adhdhin, calling the prayer for them—say: I heard Abu Hurayrah say: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: … He then cited it. Al-Bazzar said: “We know of no one who narrated it from Abu Hurayrah except this Abu Salih, and we know of no one who narrated it from him except Abu Kamil.”
I say: After relating a number of his hadiths, this being one of them, Ibn ‘Adi said: “I hope there is no harm in him.”
I say: The scholars differed concerning him. In al-Taqrib, it states: “Truthful, but makes mistakes.” Thus, his hadith is good, Allah willing. Al-Dhahabi’s statement concerning him in al-Kashif points to this:
“Ibn Ma‘in declared him trustworthy, while al-Nasa’i said: ‘He is not strong.’”
As for Abu Salih, no one other than Kamil narrated from him. Ibn Hibban and al-Dhahabi, in al-Mizan, declared him trustworthy, and al-Tirmidhi graded one of his hadiths as good.
