Al-Bayhaqi paired Ibn Lahiʿah with al-Layth.
ʿAmr ibn Dinar corroborated Abu al-Zubayr. Al-Humaydi said in his Musnad (523/1246):
“Sufyan narrated to us. ʿAmr, I believe, narrated to us: I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah relate a similar report,” in which it says:
“A man withdrew from behind him and prayed by himself.”
Sufyan said: “I asked ʿAmr ibn Dinar: ‘Abu al-Zubayr says that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Recite: ‘Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High’ ...”?’”
ʿAmr replied: “It is this, or something close to it.”
Abu ʿAwanah also recorded it in his Sahih (2/171) through al-Humaydi, as did al-Bayhaqi (3/112).
Ahmad said (3/308): “Sufyan narrated to us the same report.” Al-Shafiʿi likewise said so in al-Umm (1/152–153). All three stated:
“A man withdrew from behind him and prayed by himself.”
A group of reliable shaykhs also corroborated them, including:
-
Muhammad ibn Mansur. Al-Nasaʾi said (1/134): “Muhammad ibn Mansur informed us: Sufyan narrated to us the same report.”
-
Ibrahim ibn Bashshar. Ibn Hibban (4/58–59) and al-Tahawi (1/136) recorded it from him: “Sufyan narrated to us.”
-
Ahmad ibn Abadah. Ibn Khuzaymah (1/262/521) recorded it from him.
-
Abd al-Jabbar ibn al-ʿAla. Ibn Khuzaymah likewise recorded it from him (3/51/1611).
