Ibn Hibban listed him in al-Thiqat (8/149), and al-Dhahabi said: “Truthful.”
Al-Haythami definitively deemed him trustworthy in a hadith previously referenced under no. 2827. Accordingly, the chain is good; and Allah knows best.
The third was Abu al-Miqdam Hisham ibn Ziyad, who narrated it from him in a more complete form.
Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in Shuʿab al-Iman (4/170/4701) and said: “Abu al-Miqdam alone narrated it, and he is not strong.”
Hisham was corroborated by Habib ibn Abi Thabit, from Urwah, who narrated it in a shorter form but with an additional wording.
Al-Tirmidhi recorded it (3476) and said: “A good, singular hadith. I heard Muhammad say: ‘Habib ibn Abi Thabit did not hear anything from Urwah ibn al-Zubayr.’”
I say: Moreover, he practised tadlis, so it is possible that he received it from Hisham ibn Urwah.
It is also authentically established from Urwah as a mursal report.
Abd al-Razzaq recorded it in al-Musannaf (10/441/19640), from Maʿmar, from Hisham ibn Urwah, from his father, that the Prophet ﷺ used to say: … and he mentioned it.
I say: This is an authentic mursal chain, and a strong corroborating report for the earlier reports with continuous chains to the Prophet, as well as those to follow.
5—As for the hadith of Saʿd ibn Zurarah, al-Tabarani alone narrated it. He recorded it in al-Duʿaʾ (2/1475/1448): Muhammad ibn Abdarus ibn Kamil narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahim narrated to us:
