268 — “The first army of my Ummah to wage war by sea will have earned Paradise.” He then said: “The first army of my Ummah to wage war against Caesar’s city will be forgiven.”
Al-Bukhārī recorded it in his Ṣaḥīḥ (6/77–78), as did al-Ḥasan ibn Sufyān in his Musnad—on whose authority Abū Nuʿaym narrated it in al-Ḥilyah (2/62)—and al-Ṭabarānī in Musnad al-Shāmiyyīn, through Yaḥyā ibn Ḥamzah, who said: Thawr ibn Yazīd narrated to me from Khālid ibn Maʿdān, that ʿUmayr ibn al-Aswad al-ʿAnsī told him that he came to ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit while he was staying on the coast of Homs, in a dwelling of his, with Umm Ḥarām beside him. ʿUmayr said: Umm Ḥarām narrated to us that she heard the Prophet, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, say—and he mentioned it. It includes, after his words, “will have earned Paradise”: “Umm Ḥarām said: ‘I asked, O Messenger of Allah, will I be among them?’ He replied: ‘You will be among them.’” And after his words, “will be forgiven”: “I asked, ‘Will I be among them, O Messenger of Allah?’ He replied: ‘No.’”
Ayyūb ibn Ḥassān al-Jurashī also corroborated him, narrating to us from Thawr ibn Yazīd with it.
269 — “Whoever raises the rallying cry of the Age of Ignorance, tell him to bite his father’s penis, and do not use euphemisms.”
It was narrated by al-Bukhārī in al-Adab al-Mufrad (963, 964); al-Nasāʾī in the section on military campaigns of his al-Sunan al-Kubrā (1/36/1–2); Aḥmad in al-Musnad (5/136); Abū ʿUbayd in Gharīb al-Ḥadīth (fols. 22/2 and 53/1); Ibn Makhlad in al-Fawāʾid (fol. 3/1); al-Haytham ibn Kulayb in his Musnad (fol. 187/1); al-Ṭabarānī in al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr (fol. 27/2); al-Baghawī in Sharḥ al-Sunnah (4/99/2); and al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī in
