yet he declared it weak; indeed, he categorically asserted that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, never said it. The refutation of him has already preceded, praise be to Allah, under her hadith, no. 3162.
3170—“He would supplicate his Lord, saying: ‘O Allah, grant me lasting use of my hearing and sight, preserve them for me until my death, grant me victory over whoever has wronged me, and take vengeance for me from him.’”
It has been narrated from a number of the Companions, including Abu Hurayrah, Jabir ibn Abd Allah, Ali ibn Abi Talib, Aishah, Sad ibn Zurarah, Anas ibn Malik, and Abd Allah ibn al-Shikhkhir.
- As for the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, there are two chains from him:
The first is through Muhammad ibn Amr, from Abu Salamah, from him, with this wording.
A number of narrators reported it from Muhammad ibn Amr:
The first is Jabir ibn Nuh, al-Himmani.
Al-Tirmidhi (3606) recorded it: Yahya ibn Musa narrated to us: Jabir ibn Nuh narrated to us, with this chain. He said:
“Singular through this route.”
That is, weak, because of the weakness of this Jabir. Al-Hafiz said:
“Weak.”
Al-Dhahabi said in al-Kashif:
“He is not strong.”
I say: A narrator of his like may be cited as corroboration in supporting chains.
