of al-Qawārīrī, also from him, in al-Ḥilyah, on the one hand, and with the narration of the group from Manṣūr, on the other.
Sixth: Idrīs al-Awdī narrated from Manṣūr something similar to it.
Al-Ṭabarānī recorded it (no. 728) and in al-Duʿāʾ (415), saying: “Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr ibn Khālid al-Ḥarrānī narrated to us: my father narrated to us from Mūsā ibn Aʿyan, from him,” with the wording, from the Prophet: “When you leave your house, say ...” He then mentioned the supplication in the singular form.
I say: The narrators of this chain are trustworthy and among al-Bukhārī’s narrators, apart from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr ibn Khālid al-Ḥarrānī, al-Ṭabarānī’s shaykh, for whom I have found no biographical notice. Perhaps it was he who reversed this supplication, making it part of the Prophet’s instruction, contrary to all those previously mentioned—and those yet to come—who narrated it from Manṣūr as part of the Prophet’s practice. That is the correct version.
Perhaps he confused it with another hadith on this subject, narrated from Anas with similar wording. It is an authentic hadith, as stated in al-Kalim al-Ṭayyib (49/58), and al-Ḥāfiẓ graded it good in al-Natāʾij (1/163). It includes the words: “In the name of Allah; I place my trust in Allah.”
I later saw in al-Siyar (10/428), in his father’s biography, that he was described as “the Imam.”
Seventh: Misʿar ibn Kidām narrated it from Manṣūr as did the group, with the singular wording, as in the fourth hadith, adding: “or that I be caused to stumble.”
Al-Ṭabarānī recorded it in al-Duʿāʾ (731), and also in al-Kabīr (416), though he did not give its wording. It reads “Maʿmar” in place of “Misʿar ibn Kidām,” which is an error by the copyist or typesetter.
Eighth: al-Qāsim ibn Maʿn narrated from him the same as the preceding report, without the addition.
Al-Ṭabarānī recorded it in al-Duʿāʾ (414): “Sulaymān ibn al-Muʿāfā ibn Sulaymān narrated to us: my father narrated to me: al-Qāsim ibn Maʿn narrated to us.”
