his al-Musannaf (8/109), Ahmad (2/409, 496, and 157), Abu Ya'la (10/398/6002), and al-Bayhaqi (8/289–290), through numerous chains from al-Awza'i, with this wording. Al-Tirmidhi said: “A good, authentic hadith.”
The second: Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, that Abu Kathir narrated it to him.
It was recorded by Muslim, Abu Dawud (3678), al-Nasa'i as well, al-Tahawi likewise, and Abd al-Razzaq in al-Musannaf (9/234). Through his chain, it was also recorded by Ahmad (2/279), and through another source as well (2/408), by several chains from Yahya, with this wording.
The third: Ikrimah ibn Ammar, from him.
It was recorded by Muslim, Ibn Majah (2/1121/3378), Ibn Hibban (7/366/5320), al-Tahawi as well, and Ahmad (2/526), through several chains from him.
The fourth: from Uqbah ibn al-Taw'am, from him.
It was recorded by Muslim and al-Tahawi through two chains from him. Al-Tahawi added, through the route of Abdullah ibn Himran, who said: Uqbah ibn al-Taw'am al-Raqashi narrated to us, saying: Abu Kathir al-Yamami told me:
“I travelled from al-Yamamah to Medina, when people had greatly disagreed about nabidh (an infused drink), in order to meet Abu Hurayrah and ask him about it. I met him and said: ‘O Abu Hurayrah, I have come to you from al-Yamamah to ask you about nabidh. So relate to me from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him; do not relate to me from anyone else.’ He said: …” Then he mentioned it.
Its chain is good for corroboration.
The fifth: al-Tayalisi said in his Musnad (335/2569): Ayub ibn Utbah narrated to us from Abu Kathir al-Suhaymi, with this wording.
