is something that arouses the resentment of certain ignorant and gullible people, who deem it a contradiction and ignorance—such as the one called Hasan al-Saqqaf, who claims descent from the pure Household of the Prophet, who is adept at turning truth into falsehood and what is correct into error. He has devoted himself and made it his constant occupation to refute al-Albani, and he has written many treatises on this subject, among them one recently published under the title, “Al-Albani’s Contradictions…” The distinguished brother Ali al-Halabi has spared me the trouble of replying to him and exposing his lies, slanders, ignorance, and misguidance in his valuable book, “The Revealing Lights Exposing the Spurious ‘Contradictions’ of al-Khassaf, and Uncovering the Deviations, Distortions, and Recklessness They Contain.” I therefore direct attention to it, for Allah has benefited many through it—even some who had formerly been deceived by him, once they came to know the truth and judged fairly.
Yet I wish to say to him here, in gentle words, that perhaps he may take heed or become fearful:
First: Are you infallible, such that no scholarly error can ever occur from you? If he answers that he is not infallible and that error is possible on his part—as a true believer is indeed duty-bound to acknowledge—I say:
Second: Once what is correct becomes clear to you later on, do you return to it—as al-Albani does—or persist in your error? If your answer is yes—as is the answer of a believer—then why do you call al-Albani’s return to what is correct an error, instead of encouraging him always and forever to return to what is correct, even though, by Allah’s grace, he has no need for encouragement from someone like you?! Is not your own “contradiction,” and your failure to retract it, among the clearest proofs that there is more to this than meets the eye?!
In conclusion, I ask Allah to guide you to learn the knowledge of the Quran and Sunnah together, according to the methodology of the righteous predecessors, so that those deceived by you may be saved from your misguidance. Otherwise, Baraqish has brought disaster upon herself.
As for me, I hope that He, Most High, will grant me ever greater success in serving and defending the hadith and the Sunnah, direct my steps aright in that, and make it a means for forgiving my sin on the Day of Judgment.
