Secondly: reserving a particular place in the mosque for prayer—that is, making a particular spot one’s habitual place—is supported by the marfūʿ hadith of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Shibl, worded:
“The Prophet forbade pecking like a crow, sprawling like a predatory beast, and a man making a place in the mosque his habitual spot, as a camel makes its place habitual.”
It was narrated by the compilers of the Sunan, except al-Tirmidhī, and authenticated by Ibn Khuzaymah, Ibn Ḥibbān, al-Ḥākim, and al-Dhahabī. Its documentation has preceded under no. 1168.

Ibn Ḥibbān narrated it (560—al-Mawārid) by way of Ibn Abī Uways: “My brother told me:”
