Al-Ṭabarānī recorded it in al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr (24/323/811): Jaʿfar ibn al-Faḍl al-Mukharramī, the tutor, narrated to us: Dāwūd ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī al-Karām al-Jaʿfarī narrated to us: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muḥammad al-Darāwardī narrated to us, from Manṣūr ibn Ṣafiyyah bint Shaybah, from his mother …
This is a good chain of transmission. Its narrators are truthful and have biographical entries in al-Tahdhīb, apart from this Jaʿfar. Al-Khaṭīb mentioned him in Tārīkh Baghdād (7/194), solely through al-Ṭabarānī’s narration from him, and cited another hadith from him which al-Ṭabarānī recorded in al-Muʿjam al-Ṣaghīr (552—al-Rawḍ al-Naḍīr) and al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ (1/193/1/3531). He did not mention any narrator criticism or accreditation concerning him. Al-Haythamī said in al-Majmaʿ (5/173):
“Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it, and its narrators are trustworthy!”
The other supporting narration is from Usāmah ibn Zayd, with wording similar to Ṣafiyyah’s hadith. Its documentation has previously been given in the second volume, no. 996. *

Aḥmad recorded it (4/263), saying: Yaḥyā ibn ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Abī Ghaniyyah narrated to us: ʿUqbah ibn al-Mughīrah narrated to us, from his paternal grandfather, al-Mukhāriq, who said:
“I met ʿAmmār on the Day of al-Jamal while he was urinating into a horn vessel. I said, ‘Shall I fight alongside you, so that I may be with you?’ He replied: ‘Fight under the banner of your people, for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to …’” The hadith.
Abū Yaʿlā also recorded it in his Musnad (3/206/1641): ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar ibn Abān narrated to us: Ibn Abī Ghaniyyah narrated to us through the same chain, except that he inserted an intermediary between ʿUqbah and the grandfather, saying: “from someone who narrated to him from his paternal grandfather …”
