Mālik also recorded the hadith (1/273), from Zayd ibn Aslam, from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār, that a man …; but he narrated it as a mursal report, without mentioning the Anṣārī man. The connected version is stronger, for an addition made by a trustworthy narrator is accepted.
The hadith has numerous corroborating reports from ʿĀʾishah and others, with similar wording through several routes. One of them has preceded under no. 328, while another route from her has the wording:
“By Allah, I hope that I am the most fearful of Allah among you and the most knowledgeable among you of what I must beware.”
It was recorded by Muslim, Ibn Khuzaymah, and Ibn Ḥibbān in their respective Ṣaḥīḥ collections, and is cited in Ṣaḥīḥ Abī Dāwūd (2067).
I had previously documented this hadith solely through Aḥmad’s narration, following the aforementioned hadith of ʿĀʾishah (329). Allah has now decreed that I document it again, with an additional benefit; praise be to Allah.
It also has a corroborating report with similar wording from ʿUmar ibn Abī Salamah, recorded by Muslim and others, and documented in al-Irwāʾ (4/84). *
3108—“A man from Quraysh will commit sacrilege in it; if his sins were weighed against the sins of mankind and jinn, they would outweigh them.” That is, the Sacred Sanctuary.
Aḥmad recorded it (2/136): Muḥammad ibn Kunāsah narrated to us: Isḥāq ibn Saʿīd narrated to us from his father, who said:
ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUmar came to ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Zubayr and said, “O son of al-Zubayr, beware of committing sacrilege in Allah’s Sacred Sanctuary, for I heard the Messenger of Allah say …” Then he related it. He said, “See to it that you are not that man.”
