Muslim and others likewise narrated a similar report from ʿUmar, which includes:
“Whoever among you must eat them, let him neutralize them by cooking.”
It is referenced in al-Irwāʾ (8/156/2514).
It is attributed to the Companion but carries the ruling of a report attributed to the Prophet.
3107—“The Messenger of Allah does that”—meaning, kissing one’s wife while fasting—“and I am the most God-fearing of you and the most knowledgeable of you concerning Allah’s limits.”
ʿAbd al-Razzāq recorded it in al-Muṣannaf (4/184/8412), and through his route, Aḥmad (5/434): Ibn Jurayj narrated to us: Zayd ibn Aslam informed me, from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār, from an Anṣārī man, who informed ʿAṭāʾ that he had kissed his wife during the time of the Messenger of Allah while he was fasting. He then instructed his wife to ask the Prophet about it. The Prophet said:
“Indeed, the Messenger of Allah does that.”
When his wife informed him, he said, “The Prophet is granted concessions in certain matters; go back to him and tell him that.” So she returned to the Prophet and said, “He says that the Prophet is granted concessions in certain matters?” He replied:
“I am the most God-fearing of you before Allah and the most knowledgeable of you concerning Allah’s limits.”
I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission. All its narrators are trustworthy and among the narrators of the two Ṣaḥīḥs, except for the Anṣārī man, who is unnamed. It is well known that an unnamed Companion does not detract from the report, for all of them are upright according to Ahl al-Sunnah.
