and Ibn Adi in al-Kamil (5/1879); through him, al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman (6/520/9136); and likewise al-Nasa'i in Fada'il al-Sahabah (240), through several chains from Asim ibn Suwayd ibn Yazid ibn Jariyah al-Ansari, who said: Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us from Anas ibn Malik, who said:
Usayd ibn Hudayr, the Ashhali leader, came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and spoke to him about a household from Banu Zafar, most of whose members were women. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, allotted them a share of something that he was distributing among the people. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“You left us, Usayd, until all that we had was gone. So, if you hear that provisions have come to me, come to me and remind me about the people of that household—or remind me of that.”

He then distributed generously among the Ansar, and then he distributed generously among the members of that household. In gratitude, Usayd said to him, “May Allah reward you, O Messenger of Allah, with the finest reward—or with goodness,” Asim being uncertain. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then mentioned it [the foregoing hadith].
