Ibn ʿUlayyah likewise narrated it in al-Ṭabarī, as did ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Thaqafī in Ibn Abī Ḥātim’s exegesis (fol. 157/1).
The second: from him, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said ... and he cited it in full.
Al-Ḥākim narrated it (2/342) through the route of ʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Maʿmar, from Abū ʿAmr al-Baṣrī, from him. He said:
“Authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs!” Al-Dhahabī concurred with him.
I say: This is one of their errors, for this Abū ʿAmr was not among the narrators of the two Shaykhs, nor did any of the remaining compilers of the Six narrate from him. Al-Bukhārī and Ibn Abī Ḥātim included biographical entries for him, but mentioned neither narrator criticism nor accreditation concerning him. Ibn Ḥibbān listed him in al-Thiqāt (The Reliable Narrators) (5/156), and two other reliable narrators also transmitted from him: Umayyah ibn Shibl and ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abī Rawwād.
The third: from him, from Abū Mūsā, attributed to the Prophet.
Al-Ṭayālisī narrated it in his Musnad (Hadith Collection) (509): Shuʿbah narrated to us from Abū Bishr, from him.
Al-Bazzār also narrated it through al-Ṭayālisī’s route (1/16/16—al-Kashf).
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar and ʿAffān likewise narrated it in Aḥmad (4/396 and 398), as did al-Rūyānī in his Musnad (Hadith Collection) (1/109/1), and Ibn al-Mubārak in al-Ṭabarī.
Abū al-Walīd also followed them, saying: Shuʿbah narrated to us in this manner.
Ibn Ḥibbān narrated it in his Ṣaḥīḥ (Authentic Collection) (4860—al-Iḥsān); however, some of its wording was omitted, leaving only that which corrupts the meaning:
“Whoever hears a Jew or a Christian will enter the Fire!”
