in al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr (24/301/765), through Ibn Isḥāq, who said: Hishām ibn ʿUrwah related to me, from his father, from ʿĀʾishah, the wife of the Prophet, who said:
Salmā, the freedwoman of the Messenger of Allah—or the wife of Abū Rāfiʿ, the freedman of the Messenger of Allah—came to the Messenger of Allah seeking action against Abū Rāfiʿ, who had struck her. She said: The Messenger of Allah said to Abū Rāfiʿ:
“What is the matter between you and her, O Abū Rāfiʿ?”
He replied, “She harms me, O Messenger of Allah!”
The Messenger of Allah said:
“How did you harm him, O Salmā?”
She said, “O Messenger of Allah, I did not harm him in any way. Rather, he passed wind while praying, so I said to him: ‘O Abū Rāfiʿ, the Messenger of Allah has commanded the Muslims that when one of them passes wind, he should perform minor ablution.’” Al-Ṭabarānī stated: “The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever passes wind must repeat the minor ablution.’” “So he got up and struck me.” The Messenger of Allah then began to laugh and say ... then he mentioned it.

He explicitly stated that he received the report directly, so we are safe from his concealment in transmission. *
3071—“Zaynab is the best (in another version: the most excellent) of my daughters; she was afflicted on my account.”
Al-Ṭabarānī transmitted it in al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ (1/290/2/4863): ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ḥātim al-Murādī related to us; Saʿīd ibn Abī Maryam related to us; Yaḥyā ibn Ayyūb related to us:
