This is a sound chain of transmission, as al-Ḥāfiẓ stated in al-Iṣābah. He also attributed it to Ibn Abī Shaybah, al-Baghawī, Ibn al-Sakan, and Ibn Mandah.
In al-Maṭālib (1/320), he attributed it to Abū Yaʿlā—that is, in al-Musnad al-Kabīr. Al-Ṭabarānī also transmitted it in al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr (22/324/816 and 25/173/425), in both a lengthy and an abbreviated version, through a single chain from ʿAbd al-Raḥīm ibn Sulaymān, from al-Mukhtār ibn Fulful, with this chain. The additional wording is al-Ṭabarānī’s.
Al-Bazzār also transmitted it (2/38/1151), in abbreviated form, through Muḥammad ibn Fuḍayl, from al-Mukhtār, with this chain.
A similar incident occurred to Umm Maʿqil with her husband, Abū Maʿqil. It is cited in al-Irwāʾ (3/375) on her authority, through Aḥmad’s narration.
Ibn Khuzaymah transmitted it in his Ṣaḥīḥ (3077), as did al-Ḥākim and others, from the hadith of Ibn ʿAbbās in a similar wording, including the addition:
“...It is equivalent to a Hajj with me.”
It is cited in al-Irwāʾ (6/32/1587).
It is also found in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī (1863). See Mukhtaṣar al-Bukhārī (Book 28—Compensation for Game / Chapter 25). *
3070—“O Abū Rāfiʿ! She only advised you to do good”—that is, to perform minor ablution after passing wind.
Aḥmad transmitted it (6/72), as did al-Bazzār (1/146/280) and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Muʿjam
