Al-Ajurri also narrated it (p. 333) through another route from Yazid, with similar wording; as did Ahmad (3/330), through Sa‘id ibn al-Muhallab, from Talq ibn Habib, from Jabir, with the same report; and al-Bukhari in al-Adab al-Mufrad (818), in abridged form. This Sa‘id is unknown.
Muslim and al-Tayalisi, in his Musnad (1703), also narrated it through Hammad ibn Zayd, who said: I said to ‘Amr ibn Dinar, “Did you hear Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah narrate from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): ‘Allah will bring some people out of the Fire through intercession’?” He replied, “Yes.”
Al-Suyuti did not include this hadith or the one before it in al-Jami‘ al-Saghir, nor in its supplement. He did, however, include this one in al-Jami‘ al-Kabir, attributing it only to al-Tayalisi!
Al-Humaydi also narrated it in his Musnad (1245), as did Ibn Hibban (9/283/7440), through Sufyan—namely Ibn ‘Uyaynah—who said: ‘Amr ibn Dinar narrated to us, with similar wording.
Ibn Abi ‘Asim also narrated it in al-Sunnah (839 and 840), and al-Ajurri in al-Shari‘ah (p. 334), through both routes.
Al-Bukhari also narrated it (6558) through Hammad, in abridged form. *
3056—“What has caused you to turn your eyes away from me?” They replied, “We were looking at the moon.” He said, “Then what will it be like for you when you see Allah openly?”
Al-Ajurri narrated it in al-Shari‘ah (pp. 263–264): Abu Bakr ibn Abi Dawud narrated to us; al-Hasan ibn Yahya ibn Kathir al-‘Anbari narrated to us; his father, Yahya ibn Kathir, narrated to me; al-Mu‘tamir ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from his father, from Aslam al-‘Ajli, from Abu Burdah, from Abu Musa al-Ash‘ari—from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
