Mu‘awiyah ibn Salih also corroborated him, reporting it in full from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘A’idh al-Azdi.
Al-Hakim narrated it (4/81) and said:
“The text is singular, but its chain of transmission is authentic.”
Al-Dhahabi concurred with him.
Imam Ahmad then narrated it by way of Yazid ibn Yazid ibn Jabir, from a man, from ‘Amr ibn ‘Abasah, with the same wording.
Its narrators are trustworthy, apart from the unnamed man.
Concerning the hadith, al-Haythami said (5/43):
“Ahmad narrated it with both a continuous and a mursal chain, as did al-Tabarani; and the narrators in all of them are trustworthy.”
He then cited it in full, including the portion relevant here, and said:
“Al-Tabarani narrated it from his teacher Bakr ibn Sahl al-Dimyati. Al-Dhahabi said: ‘People transmitted from him, and his standing was moderately acceptable.’ Al-Nasa’i said: ‘Weak.’ The rest of its narrators are narrators of the Sahih, and it has also been narrated in similar wording, with a sound chain, from two other teachers.”
Important note: The hadith under this heading was included inadvertently in Da‘if al-Jami‘ (7225), whereas its proper place is in Sahih al-Jami‘. It should therefore be transferred there. I ask Allah’s forgiveness and repent to Him. *
3052 — “A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said: ‘Present his minor sins to him.’ They will then be presented to him, while his major sins will be concealed from him. It will be said: ‘On such-and-such a day, you did such-and-such and such-and-such.’ He will acknowledge it and not deny it, while fearing the major sins. Then it will be said: ‘Give him a good deed in place of every evil deed he committed.’ He will say: ‘I have sins that I do not see here.’
