It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (11/329/6492), Aḥmad (3/157), and al-Bayhaqī in Shuʿab al-Īmān (5/454/7258).
The second: from Saʿīd ibn Zayd: ʿAlī ibn Zayd related to us that Anas ibn Mālik said … and then mentioned it in similar terms, except that he said:
“Among the major sins,”
instead of: “the destructive sins.”
However, ʿAlī ibn Zayd—who is Ibn Judʿān—is weak.
With this wording, al-Ismāʿīlī narrated it in al-Mustakhraj through another route from Mahdī, who is Ibn Maymūn. However, al-Ḥāfiẓ said:
“It seems that he narrated it according to its meaning.”
The other: Abū Dāwūd al-Ṭayālisī said in his Musnad (193/1353): Qurrāh and Sulaymān ibn al-Mughīrah related to us, from Ḥumayd ibn Hilāl, from Abū Qatādah al-ʿAdawī, from ʿUbādah ibn Quraṣ (1)—or, as Sulaymān said, Ibn Quraṭ—who was a Companion. He said:
“By Allah, you surely commit deeds …,” and so forth.
Al-Bayhaqī also recorded it in al-Shuʿab (7260) through al-Ṭayālisī’s route, and Aḥmad (5/79) through two other routes from Sulaymān ibn al-Mughīrah, with the following addition in one version:
“I said to Abū Qatādah, ‘What if he had lived to see our time?’ Abū Qatādah replied, ‘I would have had even more cause to say it.’”
