He said: A man asked him, “O Messenger of Allah, will there be camels in Paradise?” He did not answer him as he had answered his companion; rather, he said:
“If Allah admits you into Paradise, you shall have therein whatever your soul desires and whatever delights your eye.”
Suwayd ibn Nasr narrated to us: Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak informed us, from Sufyan, from Alqamah ibn Marthad, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Sabit, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with the same meaning. This is more authentic than the hadith of al-Masudi.
I say: The chain of transmission of the connected report is weak because of the weakness of al-Masudi; Asim ibn Ali narrated something similar. However, this report has been corroborated: Ahmad (5/352) said: Yazid narrated to us; al-Masudi narrated to us, through the same chain.
Ibn Abi Shaybah (13/107/15838) likewise transmitted it through this chain of transmission. It was also transmitted by al-Tayalisi (108/806), Abu Nuaym (425), and al-Bayhaqi in The Resurrection (435–437). As for the mursal report, its chain of transmission is authentic, and it is therefore a strong supporting report for the hadith under discussion.
The hadith has another connected supporting report, from the hadith of Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa'idah, may Allah be pleased with him, traced back to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Al-Mundhiri (4/269), followed by al-Haythami (10/413), said:
“Al-Tabarani transmitted it, and its narrators are trustworthy.”
It was transmitted by Abu Nuaym (424), in Knowledge of the Companions (2/48/1), and by al-Bayhaqi (439), through several routes from Hanash ibn al-Harith, from Alqamah ibn Marthad, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa'idah. In one of his narrations, Abu Nuaym did not mention Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa'idah. Al-Bayhaqi said:
“Al-Thawri also transmitted it from Alqamah ibn Marthad, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Sabit al-Jumahi, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, as a mursal report.”
