“It was narrated by al-Bazzar, and its narrators are those of the Sahih.” In this presentation and referencing, there are attribution errors that would not escape an intelligent reader. One example is that, in his final reference, he restricted himself to al-Bazzar, whereas Ahmad and al-Tabarani also narrated it, as you have seen. Al-Hafiz said in Mukhtasar Zawa’id Musnad al-Bazzar (2/294), following al-Bazzar’s preceding statement: “Authentic.” Apparently, he meant that its chain of transmission is authentic. And Allah knows best.
2983 — “Come to the blessed meal”—meaning, the pre-dawn meal.
Al-Nasa’i recorded it in al-Sunan al-Sughra (1/304) and al-Kubra (2/80/2475), through Khalid ibn Ma‘dan, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, said it. I say: This is an authentic mursal chain of transmission. It has many corroborating reports with continuous chains to the Prophet in the Sunan collections and elsewhere; Ibn Khuzaymah, Ibn Hibban, and others declared some of them authentic. I had previously mentioned some of them in Sahih Abi Dawud, no. 2030, including one from Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him. I have now come across its chain of transmission in al-Tabarani’s al-Mu‘jam al-Awsat, and wished to cite it here. Al-Tabarani said (1/30/2/497—according to my numbering): Ahmad ibn al-Qasim ibn Musawir al-Jawhari narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Ibrahim—the brother of Abu Ma‘mar—narrated to us; Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from Ibrahim ibn Maysarah, from Tawus, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: Umar ibn al-Khattab sent for me, inviting me to the pre-dawn meal, and said: “The Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, called it the blessed meal.” And al-Tabarani said:
