It also has a corroborating report narrated by Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn ʿUbayd Allāh, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr ibn ʿAṭāʾ, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Kaʿb ibn Mālik, from his father, in a report attributed to the Prophet. Al-Ṭabarānī transmitted it in al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr (19/99/197). Regarding ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn ʿUbayd Allāh, who was from Homs, al-Ḥāfiẓ said: “He is weak; no one besides Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated from him.”
2968 — “On the Day of Sacrifice and the Day of Breaking the Fast, he would go out and begin with the prayer. Once he had performed the prayer and said the salām, he would stand [standing] [on his feet], turn to face the people [with his face] while they were seated in their place of prayer. If he needed to dispatch an expedition, he would mention it to the people; or if he had some other matter to attend to, he would command them concerning it. And he would say: ‘Give charity, give charity, give charity.’ Women were the ones who gave charity most often. Then he would depart.”
Muslim transmitted it (3/20)—and this is his wording—as did al-Nasāʾī in both al-Sughrā and al-Kubrā (1/549/1785), the third addition being his; Ibn Mājah (1288), the second addition being his; Ibn Khuzaymah in his Ṣaḥīḥ (1449), the third addition likewise being his; Ibn Ḥibbān (3311) and al-Bayhaqī (3/297), both of whom have the first addition; ʿAbd al-Razzāq in al-Muṣannaf (3/280/5634), from whom Aḥmad also transmitted it (3/54); Ibn Abī Shaybah in his Muṣannaf (2/188 and 3/110–111); Aḥmad as well (3/36, 42, and 54); and Abū Yaʿlā in his Musnad (2/498/1343), through various routes from Dāwūd ibn Qays, from ʿIyāḍ ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿd, from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, in a report attributed to the Prophet.
