Nuʿaym, from ʿUmārah ibn Hazm. He said: Then he cited it, saying “ʿUmārah” in place of “ʿAmr,” and adding: “Nor will he harm you.”
Ahmad transmitted it (folio 212/1), as did Abu Nuʿaym (102/2), Ibn Mandah in al-Maʿrifah (2/75/1), and al-Hakim (3/590). Neither he nor al-Dhahabi commented on it, perhaps because of Ibn Lahiʿah’s condition. On another occasion, he said: “From Ziyad ibn Nuʿaym, that Ibn Hazm—either ʿAmr or ʿUmārah—said,” then he cited it. Ahmad transmitted it.
There is another discrepancy, with a chain differing from all those mentioned above: Yahya ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated from Ibn Lahiʿah, from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, from Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn ʿAmr ibn Hazm, from al-Nadr ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Sulami, then al-Ansari, from ʿAmr ibn Hazm, who said: “The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saw me upon a grave and said”—then he cited it with the addition.
Al-Tahawi transmitted it in Sharh al-Maʿani (1/296). However, he was corroborated in this chain by ʿAmr ibn al-Harith, from Ibn Abi Hilal, from Abu Bakr ibn Hazm, with an abridged wording: “Do not sit on graves.” Ibn ʿAsakir also transmitted it. Ibn Wahb likewise corroborated him, from Saʿid ibn Abi Hilal, from him. Ahmad also transmitted it.
