That is what he said: “through two chains of transmission,” but I have not been able to determine what is correct in this regard. Allah knows best.
Al-Mizzi also transmitted the hadith in Safinah’s biography in his Tahdhib (11/205–206), as did al-Dhahabi in his Siyar (13/179), in the biography of Abu Qilabah al-Raqashi, with his chain from Saʿid ibn Jumhan containing the same report. Al-Dhahabi said: “This is a good hadith from the elevated chains; indeed, it is the highest chain that occurred for Abu Qilabah.” I say: Rather, it is authentic, due to ʿImran al-Nakhli’s corroboration of Saʿid. I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy narrators of Muslim, apart from Ziyad—who is Ziyad ibn Rabiʿah ibn Nuʿaym al-Hadrami—and he is trustworthy without disagreement. Ibn Lahiʿah corroborated him, from Bakr ibn Sawadah, with the same report. Ahmad and Abu Nuʿaym transmitted it. However, Ibn Lahiʿah is weak on account of his memory, and he was inconsistent in its chain of transmission: on one occasion he narrated it in this manner, in accordance with this authentic narration, and on another he said: “From Bakr ibn Sawadah, from Ziyad ibn”
