2934 — “I warn you against the Dajjal; I warn you against the Dajjal; I warn you against the Dajjal. There was no prophet who did not warn his people against him. He will appear among you, O community. He will have tightly curled hair and a dark complexion, and his left eye will be obliterated. He will have with him a Paradise and a Fire, but his Fire will be Paradise and his Paradise will be Fire. He will have with him a river of water and a mountain of bread. He will be given power over one person, whom he will kill and then bring back to life, but he will not be given power over anyone else. He will cause the sky to rain, yet the earth will not bring forth vegetation. He will remain on earth for forty mornings, until he reaches every watering place in it. He will not approach four mosques: the Sacred Mosque, the Prophet’s Mosque, the Mosque of Jerusalem, and the mosque at al-Tur. Whatever may be obscured to you regarding these matters, Allah is not one-eyed”—twice.
Ibn Abi Shaybah transmitted it in al-Musannaf (15/147–148) through Za'idah, from Mansur. Ahmad also transmitted it (5/435), as did al-Sunnah (no. 1016), through Sufyan, from al-A'mash and Mansur, both from Mujahid, who said: Junadah ibn Abi Umayyah al-Dawsi related to us: “A companion of mine and I entered upon a man among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and we said: ‘Tell us what you heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and do not relate to us from anyone else, even if you consider it authentic.’ He said: ‘Yes. One day, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stood among us and said...’” He then cited it.
The wording is that of Ibn Abi Shaybah. Ahmad said, “al-Azdi,” in place of “al-Dawsi.” Shu'bah also corroborated him, narrating from Sulayman alone—who is al-A'mash. Ahmad likewise transmitted it (5/434), as did al-Sunnah (1232). Ibn ‘Awn also corroborated it from Mujahid, with similar wording.
